Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about visiting Club Serenity, meetings, recovery housing, referrals, privacy, and how to help. For questions that are not answered here, contact us.

Visiting

Do I need an appointment or a referral to come to the Drop-In Center?

No. Anyone can walk in during open hours — no appointment, referral, insurance, or cost is required. If you prefer, agencies can send a referral ahead of time, but it is not necessary.

What happens during my first visit?

A team member will greet you at the front desk. You can check in on the tablet (available in seven languages), grab a coffee, and sit down with a peer. You decide how much or how little you want to share. We can connect you to meetings, treatment, recovery housing, or simply welcome you back.

Meetings

What kinds of meetings are hosted at Club Serenity?

Our facility hosts 12-step and peer support meetings throughout the week. See the Meetings & Hours page for the current schedule. Recovery groups and community organizations can also rent the space for substance-free meetings and events.

Recovery Housing

How do I apply for a recovery house?

Start by filling out the recovery housing application on this website or at the Drop-In Center tablet. A staff member will review your application, check eligibility, and contact you about next steps. There may be a waitlist, and placement is made by staff based on gender compatibility and availability.

Is medication-supported recovery allowed in the houses?

Yes. Medication for opioid use disorder and other medication-supported recovery is welcome at Club Serenity, including in our recovery housing, as part of a person's overall recovery plan.

Referrals

I work at a treatment provider or agency. How do I refer someone?

Use the Refer Someone form on this website. It sends the referral to our team so we can watch for the person and plan a warm handoff. We only share information back once the person signs a release of information.

Can a referred person choose a different provider?

Yes. Pennsylvania's Freedom of Choice rules mean the person being referred can choose any qualified provider. Our referral is a suggestion, not a requirement, and we confirm this with the person when they arrive.

Privacy

Is my information kept private?

Yes. Drop-in and recovery housing records are protected under HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. We do not share your information with anyone outside our team unless you sign a release of information, or unless state or federal law requires disclosure.

Will I show up on a public website or in marketing materials?

No. We never publish names, photos, or stories without a separate, signed, revocable release. Any testimonials on this site use first names or initials only and are kept with written consent on file.

Support

How can I donate or sponsor Club Serenity?

You can make a one-time donation through PayPal on our Donate & Sponsor page, or download the sponsorship application to become a business or community partner. Club Serenity is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so donations may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

How quickly will someone respond to my message?

We read website messages and referrals during Drop-In Center open hours and aim to acknowledge every message within 24 hours. Website forms are not monitored around the clock. In a medical emergency, call 911. For a mental health or substance use crisis, call or text 988.
